What Are Star Fonts?
Star fonts are names and captions decorated with star characters: a solid โ on each side, a hollow โ trailing off like a shooting star, or a tiny โ tucked between every letter. Strictly speaking there is no such thing as a star-shaped alphabet in Unicode, so the letters on this page are the usual bold, script, circled and Fraktur styles, and the stars are separate characters placed around or between them. Where Can You Use Star Fonts?
Star text is accepted almost everywhere, with a few platform-specific notes:
- Instagram: the name field and bio. A โ on each side of a name costs four characters including spaces, leaving plenty of the 30-character limit for the name itself.
- TikTok: the nickname and captions. The @username rejects stars, but a nickname like โฆ แดแดษช โฆ shows in the comments and For You feed.
- Discord: display names, nicknames and role names. Server owners often use โ or โฆ in role names to mark boosters or moderators, and the symbols sort neatly in the member list.
- Snapchat: display names and the caption text on snaps. The yellow โญ emoji stands out on a photo; the text โ is easier to read on a busy background because it follows the caption colour.

Solid or hollow

Keep joiners short
The joiner styles insert a star after every letter, so a nine-letter name becomes seventeen characters. That is fine in a bio but can exceed the limit for a name field, and the twinkle effect fades once the word is longer than about six letters.
Emoji star versus text star
โญ is always a yellow image, resized and redrawn by each platform, so it looks slightly different on iPhone, Android and Windows. โ and โ are glyphs in the text font and stay consistent, which makes them the better choice for a name you want to look identical everywhere.
Match the tail direction
The shooting star โๅฝก points to the right, so put it at the end of a word rather than the start. Arrows like โฐโโค work the same way and can lead into a name from the left, which is how the Shooting Star section combines them.
